CHARACTER INFORMATION
Name: Kipo Oak
Canon: Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts
Canon point: The end of "Prahmises"
Age: 13
History: Here

Personality:

Kipo is a huge science nerd, who's the daughter of a science nerd. Before Kipo's adventures on the Surface, she and her dad used to spend time in their underground burrow quizzing each other on science facts. Kipo used to live very comfortably in her underground burrow, away from the dangers of the outside world, which has been dominated by animal people who are hostile to humans. She lived a normal, sheltered life until a Mega Mute breaks into their burrow and she's literally washed out of her burrow.

Kipo is naive to the harshness of her world, preferring to make friends not enemies, even when most of the intelligent life on the surface wants to kill her. She doesn't always know how to handle herself and the dangers around her, requiring her friend, Wolf, to always be on the outlook for her and teach her about the dangers of the Surface. If a problem can be solved by making friends with it or listening to its problems, that's what she's going to do. Luckily, she makes friends pretty easily.

Kipo does things her way pretty aggressively. An example of this is when she's dealing with the Umlaut Snakes, known for being very dangerous and their land being off-limits. While Wolf tries to get Kipo to use stealth, Kipo ignores her in favor of going right up to the Umlaut Snakes and trying to befriend them with small talk instead. When Wolf is in danger of being eaten by the snakes, Kipo takes one of their guitars and tries to win them over with music, which works. While it's a lucky gamble, that's still just the way that Kipo is - a very bullheaded person. Still, this often works out for her. And she's always up for trying to solve a problem in a different way - even if that solution is risky and dangerous. Such as singing to a Mega Mute to stop it from rampaging, which ends up working.

Kipo is much more a lover than a fighter, and believes in using peaceful tactics and friendship to solve her problems. She turns to fighting when she's desperate, like when Scarlemange kidnaps her entire burrow, with her dad among them. In that case, Kipo's main strategy is to charge in and rescue everyone through brute force. But when she sees an option to solve a situation peacefully, she'll attempt that option first. For example, she tries to change Scarlemange's heart by hugging him and offering to hear out his story, much to his surprise. Even with Dr. Emilia actively trying to kill her, Dr. Emilia loses control of her Mega Mute form. Instead of taking advantage of this and either killing her or leaving her to her Mute fate, Kipo cures her and even offers her a helping hand after saving Emilia from her Mega Mute form.

For Kipo, being sorry is enough to be a good person. This is seen in her repeated attempts to redeem Scarlemange, who was captured after forcing Mutes to either serve him or die. Most of Kipo's friends, and most Mutes, are in agreement that Scarlemange doesn't deserve a second chance. But Kipo keeps pushing for one, even letting him out of his cage to show him how great a community can be if he just gives it a chance. She even successfully gets a genuine apology out of him after wearing him down enough, and believing in him hard enough that he can be a good person. Kipo is willing to give everyone a chance, even a second or third chance, and she strongly believes that everyone can be good if given the opportunity.
Kipo tends to be hard on herself, and doubt herself when things go wrong. That's because she puts too much pressure on herself when it becomes clear that she has the power to protect everyone, and that everyone needs her protection. But Kipo is insanely stubborn, and even though she has doubts and needs her friends to encourage her, setbacks never get her down for too long. For example, the Human Mute Ultimate Friendship Alliance shows plenty of signs of being a bad idea, with Mutes being unable to get along. And for a few moments, Kipo wonders herself if it's a bad idea. But she sees Mute children playing together from different backgrounds, and it encourages her to keep working to make HMUFA a reality.

Kipo is absolutely terrified of hurting others, and takes no joy in it whatsoever. In fact she holds back on fully transforming into her Mega Jaguar form because of an earlier incident where she hurt her friend,  Benson, while transformed. She comes very close several times where she almost hurts others when she loses control of her jaguar instincts. There's an instance where she's fighting off Scarlemange's goons and manages to hop a ride with one on their flying flamingo mount. Her friend Wolf has to shout at her to stop to keep Kipo from clawing and attacking him. Even when Wolf gets her to stop, she nearly turns her anger on Wolf until she finally snaps out of it. The incident disturbs Kipo, and prompts her to find her "anchor", aka the item she needs to control her jaguar self, much faster.

Powers/abilities: Due to the Mega Jaguar's abilities, Kipo has night vision and a sharp sense of smell. She can shapeshift parts of her body, such as growing huge jaguar arms, jaguar ears, eyes, a tail, and teeth. When she shapeshifts her arms, she gains incredibly strength, and she has increased speed when her legs shapeshift.

Then there's her final transformation - the Mega Jaguar. Kipo can transform into a purple jaguar the size of building. This, of course, gives her a major strength-boost, as well as any benefits that come with being the size of a building.

Kipo is also skilled at mathematics and astronomy, as both of those subjects are her passion.

Questions:
✽ What does your character consider to be their top three strengths? Being able to easily make friends, making good decisions (others may disagree), being good at science and music.
✽ What do others consider to be your character's greatest weakness? Being too trusting, too brash,
✽ What are your character's three greatest fears? Losing her family again, failing to protect her friends, being unable to solve a problem
✽ What would your character choose for a last meal? Cake, pastries, pancakes, any kind of sweets really.
✽ Has your character ever killed? If so, how did that affect them? If not, how would it affect them? No, but she came close to it in her jaguar form. Being unable to control herself in jaguar form really scares her. After hurting one of her friends in jaguar form, it takes a while and a lot of reassurance before she's able to use her full power again.
✽ If your character was given one selfish wish (eg. must be applied to themselves and not affect others), what would it be? An entire day of fun spent with her parents.

APPEARANCE: Here she is as a human and Here she is as the Mega Jaguar

ABILITIES: Due to the Mega Jaguar's abilities, Kipo has night vision and a sharp sense of smell. She can shapeshift parts of her body, such as growing huge jaguar arms, jaguar ears, eyes, a tail, and teeth. When she shapeshifts her arms, she gains incredibly strength, and she has increased speed when her legs shapeshift.

Kipo is also skilled at mathematics and astronomy, as both of those subjects are her passion.

SUITABILITY: Kipo may have spent her life sheltered in a burrow, but Kipo adapts fast. Though she has Wolf's help to teach her the harsh realities of the surface, Kipo learns to adapt to a post-apocalyptic world in which animal-like people fight each other for dominance. Due to living in a burrow, she'd be able to handle living in a neighborhood. But because of her time spent on an apocalyptic surface learning how to survive and fight, she'd be able to survive the horrors that Santa Rosita throws her way.

PERSONALITY.

Your character has a chance to undo a terrible mistake, but in doing so, there could be unintended consequences for everyone they know. Is it worth the risk? Or should the dead stay dead?

If Kipo had to undo any mistake, it would probably relate to losing her mom or saving her dad. While she does eventually get to be with her mom again, she would do anything to see her mom. Her family is very important to her, so much that she charges in recklessly with barely any knowledge of her superhuman powers to save them. When Mulholland creates Kipo's perfect dream world, in it she's reunited with both her parents. When she realizes that her mother is the Mega Monkey that destroyed her burrow, and is ultimately taken under mind control by Scarlemange, it prompts Kipo into a rage-fueled transformation into the Mega Jaguar. As for saving her father, she charges into Scarlemange's domain on her own, ready to brute force her way through Scarlemange's minions to get to her dad, not realizing what it could mean if she got captured and used against her own people.

So if Kipo is undoing a mistake that might unintentionally harm others, it would have to be related to protecting or regaining her family or friends. Her family, most of all, means the world to her, and she'd do anything to protect them. She'd feel bad if her decision ends up causing harm to those around her, but she probably wouldn't think about the consequences in those moments. She's extremely impulsive, and is ready to lunge into action when someone she cares about is being threatened or can be saved.

If your character had the option to permanently lose the ability to feel certain negative emotions like fear or grief, or permanently forget certain memories, would they take it? What if they will never know that something has been taken from them? Does loss only matter if it's known what's missing?

Honestly? No. Kipo's very comfortable in her own skin. She wouldn't like having her personality being messed with, even if it was to remove some kind of negative emotion. Kipo is rarely apologetic for being who she is, and in fact she does things her way pretty aggressively. While it's a lucky gamble, that's still just the way that Kipo is. She's very bullheaded, and it's not really something she'd change about herself if given the chance.

And to be honest, there's not a lot of memories Kipo feels so badly about that she'd want to lose either. She rescues her father, saves her burrow, and finds her mother again. There's nothing really for her to give up. The only thing she would be tempted to give up is the Mega Jaguar's anger, because it almost consumes her and causes her to act dangerously out of control. But even then she learns how to control the Mega Jaguar, so she wouldn't feel the need to give up anything.

Could your character ever forgive themselves for something morally wrong that they've done? No matter how much time has passed? No matter how much penitence has been done? Is being sorry enough to be a good person?

Kipo tends to be hard on herself, and doubt herself when things go wrong. But Kipo is insanely stubborn, and even though she has doubts and needs her friends to encourage her, setbacks never get her down for too long. For example, the Human Mute Ultimate Friendship Alliance shows plenty of signs of being a bad idea, with Mutes being unable to get along. Kipo is willing to give everyone a chance, even a second or third chance, and she strongly believes that everyone can be good if given the opportunity.

Your character has a secret they have been sworn to, but revealing this secret could save the lives of countless others. Is it worth breaking the promise to save others, or is betrayal never justifiable?

Kipo likes keeping secrets, and swears she's good at keeping them. But ultimately she couldn't live with herself if she knew a secret that if kept could harm others. Kipo is about doing what she thinks is the greater good, even if it comes at the cost of herself. For example, when molten gold threatens to engulf her people and Mutes alike, Kipo has to make the decision to go full Mega Jaguar, knowing full well that she may not be able to turn back into a human again. She ends up making the full transformation, nearly sacrificing her human self in the process to save her people and the Mutes.

And honestly, Kipo is not as great as she says about secret-keeping. When Kipo starts growing Mute fur, she knows it'll jeopardize her friendship with Wolf, as Wolf hates Mutes. Her solution is to simply not tell Wolf, wear a jacket sleeve to hide the fur in case it grows back, and assume that she won't have to worry about it happening again. The secret tortures Kipo, because she's desperately afraid of what Wolf will think of her if the secret gets out. In the end, all it takes for Wolf to learn the truth is Kipo's jacket accidentally sliding off, revealing the fur on her arm.

Has your character ever gotten joy out of hurting others, physically or mentally? If they have, does it scare them?

Oh, these things are so cool! They're like the things you see in spy movies... what, are those a thing here?

Okay, okay - not the point! You all can hear me, right? My name's Kipo Oak, and I'm a little lost here. But there's something really important I got to ask: has anyone else had um, powers... and then suddenly didn't?

Because I can't seem to turn any part of my body into the Mega Jaguar and it's kind of freaking me out right now!

So like... get back to me with answers, if you can!
